Jewelry Designer March’05 – Aug’2005

Worked as a part of the design team, directly reporting to Mr. Scott Kay, Involved in the “Bolo” line of fine jewelry. Expanded the Bolo Collection by designing several products in Pearl, Diamonds and Colored stones. Designed various other collections using diamond, platinum and silver. Introduced the concept of CAD in the designs using Coral Draw and Photoshop.

Contract Design Director Aug’2003 – Dec’2004

Involved as a Contract Design Director to assist in product design and development for the startup company. The company was aiming to develop a retail jewelry brand to cater to the affluent East Florida Beach communities including Vero Beach, Miami and Tampa.
The aim was to create a line of exclusive high-end jewelry and establish a style for the brand. The theme comprehended for Fall 2004 show was “Dance of the Mayur” which focused on fine Indian jewelry making techniques and traditional ornamental styles modified and rebuilt to suit today’s needs for the prospective client group in the United States. The USP of the products was intensive usage of finest of materials and manufacturing details and the design distinction created by never to be repeated designs.
This involved understanding the techniques and those fine elements of design, which gave the jewelry their identity to begin with. “Dance of the Mayur” was a theme based showcase which promoted extensive usage of color in the jewelry keeping in mind the upcoming trends for the following year.

Tanishq is one of the largest fine jewelry manufacturing and retailing brand in India. Worked as a jewelry designer with the company. Involved in designing various design collections for the company. Also organized and participated in design summits. The position required designers to work with the coordinators and directors in producing products geared towards a mass market. Also produced designs for campaign collections. Participated in overall start to finish process of creating a branded design collection of fine jewelry.

Worked for the following Design Collections
  • “Navratna”
Designed a collection of over 150 products for the Indian market. Divided the collection into 3 parts. “Navratna” the way we know it for those who want to revive the past. Used the basic placement of stones to create something very different from what we know of as “Navratna”. Finally used a median between the two for those who want to live the glorious past in today’s life.
  • “Check it out”
Collection of everyday wear jewelry designed for office going women as part of the 9 to 5 collection promoted by World Gold Council. Diamonds set in 18K white and yellow gold set with diamonds under strict price constraints for the products inspired by the formal check prints and the symmetry of the checks we see in graphs and other stationary etc as part of the office environment.

Worked at the manufacturing shop floor and did research on fusion of various colors of gold to produce a material suitable for mass production. Also used this material to design collection of jewelry in 18K Gold and semi-precious stones
  • “Bhandhan:”
Designed the packaging and a part of the visual merchandising for Tanishq silver raakhi collection (ornamental bracelets for an Indian festival). Worked under strict material, time and price constraint

Jewelry Talk Show host August 2006 - Current

EBC radio serves over 400,000 South Asians in New Jersey and Pennsylvania on the airwaves of 1170 am. EBC radio online has listeners from countries like Singapore, India, Australia, etc. Currently hosting a weekly jewelry talk show for the radio.
